Hertfordshire is a county which is close to London and is bordered by counties such as Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex. There are a number of major towns here and parts of the countryside are considered to be particularly beautiful. Finding something to do in the area is not difficult and being centrally located like this makes commuting to other areas so much easier.
Keeping the kids entertained is so much easier with attractions such as the Paradise Wildlife Park. Here there are many animals such as lions and tigers and there are plenty of activities here that all the family can take part in. This is a great option for a day out but there is also the Shepreth Wildlife Park at Royston. This park features a wide range of animals and has been open for more than 25 years, winning several awards in that time.
For something a little more sedate there are a number of houses and stately homes in the area which give visitors a chance to see how the other half lives. Hatfield House is a Jacobean building and was formerly home to Elizabeth I. This building was owned by the Cecil family for hundreds of years and attracts many visitors each year. Shaw’s Corner was the house that was home to George Bernard Shaw. The property is now run by the National Trust and visitors can see the rooms as they were during his time. This can be found in the village of Ayot St Lawrence and it is just a few miles from the larger town of Harpenden.
Those who are interested in the history of the county will find the Natural History Museum at Tring a fascinating day out. This was formerly the private museum of one of the second Baron Rothschild. There are many stuffed animals on display here and can be found in the heart of Tring. Welwyn Garden City is a popular destination for tourists and the pretty town has much to offer including beautiful parks and interesting shops.
No matter where you are in Hertfordshire, it is an easy trip into the capital for a day out. Alternatively head towards the Essex coast where you can enjoy a typical day at the British seaside. Hertfordshire does have plenty of attractions but it is also ideally located for those who want to do a little travelling while they are in the area.
With such a large area to cover, exploring Hertfordshire can leave you feeling very tired. Combat this by making use of a memory foam mattress. The range from Hypnia covers full mattresses as well as memory foam toppers and pillows. Being able to get a good night’s sleep has so many benefits and for many people it is only when they get a memory foam mattress that they realise just how poor quality their sleep was before. There is no need to wait – the developments of memory foam production means that they are now more affordable than they have ever been. Never underestimate the benefits of a good night’s sleep.
